A case study.
After setting up Creep with some fresh new promo T’s for their upcoming onslaught of DJ gigs in EU and Japan, in preparation for their upcoming single on Young Turks label featuring Romy from The XX we wanted to approach the promotion of their first release in an extraordinary focused and direct way.
In the face of the ever changing landscape of what use to be the institution known as, the record industry, we chose a medium that not only has tested time, but the weather and the world around it. Wheatpaste.
So we began the collaboration and brainstormed a few ideas based on the bands iconography.
STAGE ONE - FORMAT
Postering with simplicity. We went with black, white, and a silver halftone silkscreen.
STAGE TWO - PRODUCTION
Film. Screens. Printing.
Sizing was important. But also the negative space from a distance. In the cluttered, graffiti'd streets of NY we had to stand out.
STAGE THREE - DISTRIBUTION
We hit the streets that summer through fall. Our little idea gained some momentum and notoriety.
And we managed to get a little a lil' free press a long the way...
